A Wild Safari Adventure at Squamater Xwabaxwa Campsite

Imagine waking up to the sound of wild dogs chasing impala, elephants grazing just a stone's throw away, and hyenas cackling in the distance and coming to camp.. That's exactly what happened during my recent visit to the Squamater Xwabaxwa Campsite, located on the river in the Khwai Community camp. This was no ordinary safari, as we were treated to a front-row seat to the incredible wildlife that calls this place home.

One of the most unforgettable moments of our stay was witnessing a pack of wild dogs, also known as painted dogs, in hot pursuit of a herd of impala through our camp site. It was like watching a National Geographic documentary come to life right before our eyes. The speed, agility, and teamwork displayed by these fascinating creatures left us in awe.

The wild dogs weren't the only stars of the show. We were also treated to sightings of elephants, hyenas, and even a pair honey badger making a surprise appearance. It felt like the entire cast of The Lion King had gathered around our campsite for a private performance.

As if the chase wasn't enough, we were also treated to plenty of plains game. Red lechwe, kudu, waterbuck, and sable antelope grazed peacefully, oblivious to the drama unfolding around them. It was a true feast for the eyes, showcasing the incredible diversity of wildlife in the area.

Of course, we couldn't resist the urge to capture these incredible moments on camera. Not always easy as the speed of some of the sightings was a bit too quick for us. From the excitement of the chase to the serenity of the grazing plains game, every shot was a testament to the magic of this place.

Conclusion:

A visit to Squamater Xwabaxwa Campsite is an experience like no other.

A little more care could be taken around the ablutions. Put two Basins and have toilet seats. Close the gaps between the showers but otherwise we had hot water every day and place was clean.

From the thrill of the chase to the peaceful moments of reflection, it's a place where the wonders of nature come to life. So, if you're looking for an unforgettable safari adventure, pack your bags, grab your camera, and prepare to be amazed.
