After all the little towns that we had stayed in, drove through and eaten in so far along Our Journey Swakopmund is quite the cosmopolitan city! Beautiful old buildings, modern homes, streets with no pot holes and actual traffic lights that work! The ocean on one side and the endless desert on the other bringing not only the freezing Atlantic air but the sand storms as well. A place where the very old (German) style has collided with the new. Immaculately clean it was pleasure to walk around - stunning trendy shops, old antique shops and cafe restaurants on every corner. Even good wi-fi so we could catch up on some posts! We tried our best to visit all the iconic pubs and got to Kucki's just for my brother and his wife.

Covid has really played a huge part in destroying African tourism and chatting to the owners of these establishments it been a long road. Thank goodness we are witnessing a return of a lot of European tourists to the area. Kucki's seats 300 and are lucky to get 20 to 30 in on a day. Gone are the tourist buses and its only the Over-landers like ourselves supporting these establishments.

Jetty Restaurant in Swakops was one of the places we had noted to go and eat at. Popped past the day before to have a bottle and make a booking for the following night (so we could clean up a little & actually they were full that nigh!). The restaurant situated on the end of the Jetty has virtually a 360 degree view so you are surrounded by the ocean. (Have to admit to taking a motion sickness tablet) It was an incredibly special evening, good wine, mostly delicious food (Mike's steak was awful and we had to send it back) but everything else was delicious. Well worth the visit!

This is the following next night for our actual dinner! Sorry not many photos of us or our food!
