After all our planning and packing we were on our way!  Leaving home at 6.30am we set off what felt like the completely the wrong direction - not via Bloemfontein to Hole in the Wall, not N3 to Durban to Kathryn, not via N4 Pretoria to Hoedsprurit. We were heading north west via Krugersdorp & Ventersdorp to Upington.  Single roads most of the way - little busy towns with either slow drivers or race car drivers  - it was a challenging and exhausting drive for Mike but 808 km later we arrived at Oranjerus Resort.  We were welcomed by friendly staff and good accommodation thankfully with aircon to cool us down as outside temps about 34 degrees.  Checked in and like we do headed straight to find some refreshments.  The bar and restaurant were situated right alongside the bubbling & mightily flowing Orange River which was a sight to behold.  It was flowing so strongly that the reeds alongside the river thumped their own special song to us.

A beautiful sunset, couple bottles of "The Hedgehog" sav blanc and it finally it felt like our holiday and adventures had begun....
