The Fish River Canyon was spectacular! You drive for hundreds of kilometres to get here (PS on exceptional Namibian gravel roads - please could you send these pad maakers to RSA!) with only absolute flatness that extends forever and then you arrive at Fish River Canyon! The depth and magnificence of the valleys and furrows is gob smacking. Well worth the trip and we were both in awe of the beauty. Second only to the Grand Canyon in the US of A it did not disappoint. Can honestly say we'll never hike here - hopefully photos load and you'll understand why!
Such a highlight to see our first Springbokkie in Namibia on our drive into Hobas - they truly are beautiful creatures!
Arrived at Hobas campsite - which is part of the Namibian Wild Resorts - clean, with excellent facilities. We set up Jurgie for the first time since last October. Was a little bit of a challenge but we got there finally and had two super nights - one with a storm and rain (first time in a thousand years its rained there!) and the other under stars and naturally Mike had a small fire going. Couldn't have been better wine, fire & stars....we were in heaven.
How impressive!! We still had ice all the way from JHB to FRC - from Friday pm to Sunday pm!! Best damn thing we bought! Romer - you beauty!
