South Luangwa is truly an incredible park, and we were determined to make the most of our time there. On day one, we decided to treat ourselves and opted for a guided game drive with one of the vehicles from Croc Valley. We packed our trusty Roamer cooler with refreshing drinks and set off with our knowledgeable guide for an evening game drive, or as our overseas friends charmingly refer to it, a "safari."
The park's beauty was immediately evident, and it still retained its unspoiled charm, far from the usual tourist crowds. As we ventured deeper into South Luangwa, we followed the path alongside the Luangwa River, encountering beautiful water holes and breathtaking vistas across the river.
Our exploration didn't end there. The following day, we embarked on a day drive into the heart of the park, taking our time to wander through its landscapes. The roads we traversed hugged the Luangwa River, offering us glimpses of its beauty before leading us inland to discover another view.
One of the highlights of our day was spotting the elusive Lillian's Lovebirds, a bird sighting that thrilled us to no end. But the wonders of South Luangwa didn't stop there. We were fortunate enough to come across a variety of remarkable animals, including lions, Thornicroft's giraffes, Crawshay's zebras, and Cookson's wildebeests. The Park also treated us to a bunch of birdlife, with countless bee-eaters and the majestic presence of fish eagles soaring above.
Our South Luangwa adventure was a journey through a pristine wilderness, where every twist and turn in the road revealed nature's marvels. It was a trip filled with awe-inspiring moments and cherished memories, reminding us of the incredible beauty and biodiversity that still thrives in this remarkable corner of the world.
