Setting out from Hippo Bay, we embarked on a drive through the enchanting expanse of Kafue National Park, en-route to our next destination: Kasabushi Camp Site and Lodge. This haven, now under the stewardship of Quinton and Tessa, has undergone a remarkable transformation. As the park's landscapes unfolded before us, antelopes and raptors made their appearances, while a river played host to the lounging figures of hippos and a few watchful crocs.

Upon our arrival at Kasabushi, Tessa and Quinton greeted us with the warmth and genuine enthusiasm that was notably absent from our Hippo Bay experience. Their reception was a breath of fresh air, immediately setting a positive tone for our stay. Their eagerness to share their newfound slice of paradise spoke volumes.

The campsite itself rests alongside the tranquil Kafue River, occasionally graced by wandering elephants. The nights were alive with the sounds of lions' calls, creating a natural nocturnal symphony. Meanwhile, the hippos added their own unique laughter to the soundscape, indulging in their comical chorus until the day's end.

Now, let's talk ablutions. Kasabushi didn't just offer your run-of-the-mill bathroom facilities; it provided an eclectic mix of amenities that were nothing short of ingenious. Cleanliness and functionality were the order of the day, with thoughtful touches that suggested a level of care that went beyond mere functionality. And speaking of theories, my wife had an amusing one – she insisted that a woman must have had a hand in the design. Go figure!

Our stay at Kasabushi spanned three nights – a tranquil respite that left us rejuvenated. However, as much as we appreciated the comforts and hospitality, we found ourselves pining for the untamed wilderness of Hippo Bay.

Quinton and Tessa, the dynamic duo behind this transformation, graciously invited us to explore the lodge. Strolling around with a couple of cold ones in hand, we were treated to breathtaking views that perfectly complemented the lodge's elegant setting. We couldn't help but wish them all the luck and success in their exciting journey ahead at Kasabushi.

In the grand tapestry of our journey, the Kasabushi chapter was one of contrasts – from the friendly reception to the symphony of nature, and from the innovative ablutions to the wild authenticity of Hippo Bay. It was a chapter we'd remember fondly, for its uniqueness and the refreshing change it brought to our Zambian adventure.
